Respect the Environment with our Recyled Fabrics

Interior curtain fabric and other interior materials such as wallpaper can contribute profoundly to our comfort, warmth and inspiration – our feelings of wellbeing. But how can they contribute to the wellbeing of the planet?

As suppliers of materials in today’s challenged world, Modern Curtains have undertaken the responsibility to offer sustainable fabrics to our customers as we know they are produced in the most conscious way possible. Having worked with many fabric producers over the years we can offer these from a range of fabric houses including Vescom who are based in the EU with three production sites. These facilities not only allow scrutiny of their raw materials but also the manufacturing methods. The focus is on sustainability and wellbeing, and how to develop, make and distribute eco-conscious interior materials.

One of our sheer  fabrics called LINK is made using inherent FR recycled polyester by REPREVE® yarns – the world’s leading brand of recycled fibres suited to curtains. REPREVE® high-quality fibres are made from 100% recycled materials, including used plastic bottles and waste. Using recycled instead of virgin polyester produces fewer carbon emissions and gives plastic bottles a second life, keeping them out of oceans and landfills which is a huge problem in the 21st Cenury. This flame retardant sheer fabric has a sculptured grid like structure and a super modernist architectural look and is woven at 320cm, making it perfect for tall windows wanting some privacy without blocking any light with no visible seams. Colour is key here with a sensible selection of natural and organic tones – chalk, linen and pebble, easy to use and perfect in a setting such as office, hospitality or healthcare.

Other Benefits of Recyled Fabrics

Recycled fabrics can mimic natural fabrics such as wool and linen and are extremely hard wearing and resistant to fading even more so than the real thing! Other benefits include tolerating higher wash temperatures. Linen and wool require delicate care whereas Tula and Delos from Vescom can be washed at 70 degrees for hygiene.
